Hey Guys welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

For my second blog post I wanted to discuss what I packed in my hospital bag. For those who follow me on Ig and YouTube, you know that my son is 8 months old.  When I was getting ready for his arrival, I felt my head spinning. What was needed and what wasn’t. I read blog after blog to minimize over packing and packing what was essential. From warm fuzzy socks to baby clothes, I have narrowed it down to my hospital bag essentials. Although I packed it 8 months ago, I used most of these items during my hospital stay.

For Mom

  • Toiletries   Labor can be a long process, having items that will make you feel comfortable is always a good idea. Make sure to pack items like deodorant, toothbrush, paste, lotion, face wash, chap stick, and whatever else you use daily.
  • Pillows and extra blankets. Hospitals are often cold, and their pillows are not the best, come prepared. Bring something familiar and don’t forget to take it back home with you.
  • Fuzzy socks and shower slippers. In the Operating Room or the labor room keep your toes warm. Shower slippers are always a must when bathing in a shared shower, especially in a hospital.
  • 1-2 nursing bras. Those will come in handy if you decide to breastfeed, the access is way easier.
  • Nursing Pillow. To initiate breastfeeding while in the hospital, its more comfortable than using a regular pillow.
  • Comfortable clothes. Pack at least two set of PJ’s, a robe and a two change of loose clothes. I.E large t-shirt and leggings. After birth you will be in pain/discomfort, opt for something loose. You will also be getting assessed by the medical personnel frequently, so wear something with easy access to your abdomen and perineal area.
  • Eye Mask. After your little one is born sleep will be foreign. Having an eye mask can be a life saver to catch some z’s while on the unit.
  • Hospital paperwork/id. Although you probably planned and rehearsed everything for the arrival of your little one, make sure you grab your wallet for, id, insurance cards, and any paperwork you may need.
  • Food & snacks. Pack hard candy, granola bars and or nuts. While you are not allowed to eat during active labor , you will have them post birth.
  • Electronics & chargers. This is obviously needed to start making memories. and sharing your joyous news.

For Dad

  • Credit card, cash for parking and vending machines. Having cash will come handy in case you need to pay parking or use vending machines.
  • Food & snacks. In case your partner gets hungry, you will have something to keep their glucose levels up.
  • Electronics & chargers. Once the baby is born, news will travel fast! Lets keep our electronics charged and ready for tons of pictures and videos.
  • Pillows and blanket. Space and bedding is often limited in hospital rooms, so having an extra set of pillows and blanket can help your partner stay comfortable.

For Baby

  • 1-2 outfits. The hospital will provide onesies that will give easy access to personnel to assess your little one. So there is no need to bring a lot of outfits or blankets.
  • Going home outfit. Pick a cute outfit for your little one to go home in .  Don’t forget to pack socks, booties and hats.
  • No need for diapers/wipes. Luckily hospitals will provide you with these essentials. There is no need to pack toiletries for baby, unless you opt to use cloth diapers.
  • Folder for important paperwork. You will get a lot of paperwork before being discharged. Make sure you have a safe place to store them. Things get hectic and can be overwhelming with staff coming in and out as well as visitors. Store paperwork in one place to stay on top of things.
  • Car seat and base. The most important item needed in order for you to get discharged! Don’t forget to install the base in the car, and play with the car seat. Get familiar with the straps and adjustments a few weeks before baby is born.

I hope you find this checklist helpful. Staying organized is key in prepping for the arrival of a baby and there after. So make sure you make your list and check it twice!!
